It’s not a good time to be a student, not with the way jobs are being cut and people are being axed. No job is safe today, and if you are complacent, you just might see yourself unemployed sooner than later. |
In such a situation, if you’ve just started college, you’re probably going to be wondering if it is worth pursuing an education, especially if it’s at a high personal cost. You may be borrowing money and making many other sacrifices to put yourself through college, so it’s only natural that you may have doubts about your decision.

It’s traditionally seen as a time for celebration, but these days Hamline University senior Emily Amici looks at graduation day with nothing but uncertainty. “If I don’t have a job, I’ll be panicking,” the St. Paul, Minnesota, student says.

Amici wants to dive head-first into the business world, but with the economy hurting, that can be a bit daunting. Amici is majoring in international management with a minor in Spanish, and until mid-school year she thought she’d be just fine.
“I had already started interviewing with companies back in like October, and I was like ‘Wow, they’re already looking to hire people and it’s only October, so that’s a good sign.’ But then right around December things just started going downhill, and it’s been kind of rough.”

The best part of being a child is that you have no responsibilities, either to yourself or to anyone else. And so you’re free to do as you please, within the rules set for you of course, until you reach the age where you must take a decision regarding the rest of your life. Once the chore of high school has been completed, some kids decide not to go on to college, but the ones that do need to make up their minds on the career path they want to go down, either during their four years at the institution or after them. |

A White House aide told POLITICO44 Monday that Obama (O’Bama?) will be hosting two St. Patrick’s Day bashes at the White House Tuesday night. The theme at the WH is green all day — started with the dyed water in the White House fountain. |
Starting at the top o’ the morning–or more like 11a.m. — Obama and Joe Biden met with the Taoiseach of Ireland in the Oval Office. A little while later, they attended a Shamrock Ceremony in the Roosevelt Room.

Below is 2009’s Financial Times Global MBA Ranking’s. The top 10 schools, from the joint first London Business School and Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to New York University: Stern, form the leading group of world class business schools. Some 31 points separate LBS and Wharton from Stern. |
The second group is headed by the University of Chicago: Booth which scored 57 points more than University of California at Berkeley: Haas, leader of the third group. The fourth group is headed by University of California at Irvine: Merage and includes schools ranked from 74 to 100.

Looking for jobs that require travel? As a semi professional vagabond, I’ve had a variety of jobs that were accepted solely for the travel perks. I have never been one for the office environment, preferring instead to hit the road and see the world. |
Here are the top four jobs that require travel:
Truck Driver. If your principal passion in life is to be on the road, and you can stand sitting down for long periods of time, this can be a great job. There are several trucking companies out there that will train and help you get your commercial drivers license (CDL). Depending on the size of the vehicle, you can get either a class A or B, with special endorsements (such as a passenger endorsement, if you’re driving other people). For a very specific breed of person, being a truck driver is a great way to make a living.
