Sometimes institutions offering an accredited online bachelor degree program will call itself a university. For example, Liberty University and Kaplan University are online schools designated as universities. Other times, the educational institution will be labeled an “Institute.” The ITT Technical Institute is one example.

ITT Technical Institute is one of several providers of online education that specialize in technical skills. De Vry is another one who also offers an accredited online bachelor degree. On completion of postgraduate studies the Master’s Degree is awarded. Further studies and research results in the Doctorate Degree, which is commonly known as the Ph.D. Acquisition of this degree signifies that one has reached the cutting edge of knowledge.

Another way of classifying a university degree is according the stream of knowledge. There are science degrees offered in subjects such as physics, chemistry and mathematics. Engineering degrees are offered in electrical, civil, chemical and other disciplines of engineering. Arts degrees are offered in music, religion, fashion design and a host of similar subjects. clock.jpg Do you waste time? Are you lazy and indolent or are you continuously on the go, using every minute to the maximum? If you are in the first category, there are a lot of very obvious things you can do to improve, but in this article I want to concentrate on those of us who are already using our time constructively and examine how you can squeeze even more from your day.

You may think that your life is so full that this is impossible, but I recently ran an inventory of how I used my time and realised that there was still some room for improvement. Here’s what I discovered.

Timespace #1 – For years I avoided doing any kind of exercise. It was pretty easy for me, I had been skinny all my life and even though I wasn’t too fit, I was still the right weight. As I got older, though I realised that I had to take my body a bit more seriously. (more…)

Friday, August 17th, 2007
which-online-accounting-school-is-right-for-me.jpg You have just made an important decision – to earn your accounting degree at an online university.Your next task is to find out which online accounting school is the right one for you. This is a crucial step in starting your online accounting school education.

Refer to this checklist as a guide in making the right decision.

Appropriately Accredited Accounting Program
Many schools claim to be accredited. But are their accreditations specific to your educational needs? Select an online institution that follows the standards set by The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and/or Fundamentals of Bookkeeping program.

Transfer of Credits
If you have previously taken some accounting subjects in another school, look for an online school that will credit these units. It would be a waste to retake subjects you have previously studied in another school.

Appropriate Technologies
The use of technologies is a critical component in online learning. Most virtual schools use a combination of these technologies. (more…)

Why Are Some Online Degree Colleges Better Than Others?

Thursday, August 16th, 2007
why-are-some-online-schools-better.jpg Any student who is on the lookout for online degree colleges would probably have been swamped with the many options marketed to them over the internet. Therefore, it is not a wonder that many students feel confused on the right college selection as they may not know the way to nail down the advantages that certain colleges have over others. Although many renowned colleges charge higher fees for their courses, the extra costs incurred may not necessarily be justified by the facilities, recognition and educational value that they provide to students.

For one thing, different online colleges are accredited by different authorities. Therefore, it is important to find out whether the degrees offered are actually accredited by the relevant educational association for your particular state. Otherwise, you may end up having a degree that is not valid and be rejected by your employers. There are also times when colleges may be in the process of getting accredited. Therefore, this information is important to you as their applications for accreditation may be rejected by the authorities later.

Once you are certain of a college’s accreditation, you should then determine the history of the college. How many students have graduated as compared to the enrollment numbers? How long has the course been offered? Answering these questions will give you an idea on the level of experience and expertise that the college has to offer for the particular course you want. After all, you are paying them for online education and deserve to get value for your money.
