What is the Value of a College Degree?

Earning your college diploma is worth it! If you have ever wondered if it is worth the effort to earn your college degree, be assured. It is!

The last census showed that college graduates earned almost twice the annual salary of those with only a high school diploma. And those with Advance degrees (M.A., M.S, Ph.D etc.) earned more than a third more than those who had their B.A or B.S. degree.
From an economic stand point, it is more than worth the time and money to advance your education.

Then there are the other benefits. College classes open a whole new world to those who attend them. Whether you are taking classes in a classroom or doing your degree online, you will meet new people, learn new ways to process information and become acquainted with the major thinkers and writers that have shaped civilization. This is enriching. It widens and deepens your thinking. You will become better at problem solving, be better able to meet the challenges of the changing workplace and feel good about yourself no matter what sort of competition you face.

College opens new cultural vistas. Some people are born into families where familiarity with other culture is gained just be living in a family. There are books, fine art, travel and a sense of history in their families. For others, many of these things are gained during college. A music appreciation course, an art history course, studying a foreign language, world history, psychology and philosophy can open new worlds for you. And you will learn about Asia, Latin America and African cultures and history. This knowledge is essential in the 21st century – especially for those in business or health care.

So, if you are wondering if getting your college degree is worth the time, effort and money, the answer is a resounding, YES! Your diploma will add to your income, your cultural understanding and your self esteem.
